Basbousa Recipe

From the kitchen you will need
- For the semolina mixture:
- Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 1 tin
- Butter (melted) 1 cup
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Semolina 2 cups
- Pistachio 1 ½ cups
- Water 1 cup
- For the syrup:
- Sugar 2 cups
- Water 1 ½ cups
- Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
- Rose Water 1 tablespoon
- Pistachio (ground) 2 tablespoons

Combine melted butter, Nestlé Sweetened Condensed Milk and baking powder and stir well.

Add semolina, ground pistachio and water, stirring until well combined.

Pour and level mixture into a 28 cm x 24 cm baking tin.

Bake in a 190°C preheated oven for 35 minutes or until golden.

For the syrup, add sugar and water to a saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer for 6-8 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, rosewater and ground pistachio.

Remove from oven and pour cooled syrup all over cake.

Place in fridge to cool completely, cut into diamond-shaped slices and serve.
