Date Crumble Recipe
From Nestlé® you will need
From the kitchen you will need
- Butter(melted) 180 g
- Brown Sugar 1.5 cups
- Egg 1 piece
- Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour 1.75 cups
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Rolled oats 2 cups
- For Filling:
- Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397 g
- Butter(softened) 0.25 cup
- Walnuts 0.75 cups
- Dates(chopped) 1.5 cups
- Dark chocolate chips 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract 395 g

Combine butter, sugar, the beaten egg and vanilla in a large bowl.

Add flour, baking powder and oats to the mixture.

Press ½ the mixture into a greased 25cmx30cm baking dish and refrigerate to chill.

In a separate bowl knead the dates with butter, slowly adding 1 tin of Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Mix in the chopped nuts, chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla.

Spread the date filling evenly over the base and then crumble the remainder on top to cover the date mixture.

Place a few dabs of butter over the top.

Bake in a 180°C preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Cool to room temperature

Serving tip: When firm, serve the crumble with a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh cream.
