Date Tart Recipe

From the kitchen you will need
- FOR THE CRUST:
- Flour 250 g
- Cold Butter 180 g
- Sugar 10 g
- Salt Just a pinch
- Ice Water, made with melted with ice cubes 150 ml
- *You can also go for a ready-made Tart crust if you are short on time!
- FOR THE FILLING:
- Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 1 tin
- Eggs 2
- Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cardamom (optional) ½ teaspoon
- Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Majdoul Dates 250 g
- Sliced Almonds 100 g

In a bowl, sift the flour, then add the sugar and salt, and mix with a whisk.

Add the cold cubed butter and work it into the flour with your hands. Do not worry if the mixture is crumbly.

Add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing with your hand, until the dough begins to come together.
Step

Knead the dough for 1 minute and shape it into a disk. Then, cover with plastic film and refrigerate for 1 hour. If you are planning ahead, you can keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Pre-bake the shell for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated over at 180⁰C.

Once ready, take the shell out of the oven and cool for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Pit and cut the dates into quarters, and lay them down flat on the dough, skin side up. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible.

Scatter the sliced almonds all around the dates.

Separately, in a bowl, whisk the Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk, eggs, cinnamon, cardamom (optional), vanilla, and salt.

Pour the mixture onto the tart and bake in a preheated oven at 180⁰C for 45 minutes, or until the tart is crispy and golden. Enjoy warm or cold.
